The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced it will send a 15-member delegation to Nigeria on Friday for a final inspection of facilities. The team will assess the preparedness of venues for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards. The inspection comes ahead of these major continental football events.
The visit is part of CAF’s efforts to ensure all logistical and infrastructural requirements are met. The General Assembly is a key decision-making body for the confederation, while the Awards ceremony recognizes outstanding achievements in African football. The inspection will focus on the condition of venues, security measures, and overall event readiness.
This is the second and final inspection before the events. The first assessment was conducted earlier this year, and the current visit aims to confirm that all necessary improvements have been made. The timing of the inspection aligns with the lead-up to both the General Assembly and the Awards, which are expected to draw significant participation from football stakeholders across the continent. The CAF has not released specific details about the venues under review, but sources indicate that major stadiums in Lagos and Abuja are among the locations being evaluated.
