Clicks Group, a major South African retailer, is moving forward with its plan to electrify its logistics operations by introducing a fleet of 30 heavy-duty electric trucks. The company has partnered with Zimi, an EV infrastructure provider, to install charging equipment at all 10 of its distribution centers and 24 retail stores nationwide. This expansion aims to support the retailer’s broader strategy to reduce carbon emissions and enhance operational efficiency.
The initiative aligns with growing efforts across Africa to promote sustainable transportation solutions. As part of this push, Clicks is investing in the necessary infrastructure to ensure its electric vehicles can operate smoothly across its extensive network. The deployment of the new trucks is expected to improve delivery times and reduce fuel costs, offering long-term economic benefits.
The move also reflects a broader trend in the region, where businesses are increasingly adopting green technologies to meet environmental goals and regulatory requirements. With the support of local partners, Clicks is positioning itself as a leader in the transition to electric mobility within the retail sector.
