The Scorpion Kings Live festival, held at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, is estimated to have injected over R200 million into Gauteng’s economy. Organized by the event group Scorpion Kings, the festival brought together top artists and industry leaders, including DJs Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, as well as performers like Nasty C, Kamo Mphela, Young Stunna, and A-Reece.
According to Gauteng Tourism, the event generated R150 million in direct revenue. Additional economic activity, including accommodation, transportation, and retail, contributed an estimated R49 million to the local economy. The festival, which took place over the weekend, attracted a large audience and showcased the growing influence of South African music on the global stage.
The event also featured highlights such as a tribute to fallen heroes, drawing attention to the cultural and social significance of the festival beyond entertainment. As one of the largest music events in the region, Scorpion Kings Live continues to play a key role in promoting South Africa’s creative industries.
