The Court of Arbitration for Sport has scheduled a hearing for October 8, where Senegal will appeal the Confederation of African Football’s decision to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco. The final was abandoned without a winner.
The appeal follows the abandonment of the 2025 AFCON final, which ended in a draw after extra time. CAF decided to award the title to Morocco, a decision that Senegal contested. The hearing will determine whether the outcome of the final should be reconsidered.
This is the second time Senegal has challenged a CAF decision related to the Africa Cup of Nations. In 2021, the country contested the allocation of the 2021 tournament, which was eventually held in Cameroon. The current appeal is part of ongoing efforts by Senegal to secure hosting rights for future tournaments. The outcome of the hearing could influence future decisions on tournament organization and host selection.
